The Center for the Treatment of Anxiety: Bringing New Hope to Perrysburg

From time to time, everyone experiences anxiety. In fact, a little anxiety can actually be beneficial —  it can keep us safe by helping us recognize the potential for danger, and it can encourage us to plan ahead and anticipate future problems. For some people, though, anxiety can be overwhelming. Anxiety disorders, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and more, can prevent people from fully engaging in life.

The Center for the Treatment of Anxiety, opening in January 2018 in Perrysburg, Ohio, is dedicated to providing adolescents and adults with tools and strategies to help overcome anxiety disorders, phobias, excessive worry and more.

What to Expect at the Center for the Treatment of Anxiety

For people who are taking their brave first steps toward a calmer, more fulfilling life, here is what you can expect when you visit the Center for the Treatment of Anxiety.

Assessment

On your first visit to the Center for the Treatment of Anxiety, you’ll speak with one of our dedicated professionals, who will complete a full diagnostic assessment. That’s because understanding anxiety disorders requires a thorough review of any psychological or even physical issues that may impact your recovery. That holistic approach to your overall well-being is a key component to Unison’s continuum of care. Once we’ve performed an initial assessment, we will be able to work with you on a course of action that meets your specific needs.

Counseling

Once your assessment is complete, you will most likely begin undergoing counseling with one of our trained therapists. Talking with people about your anxiety is a big part of conquering it. There are a number of therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy designed to provide you with the tools you need to work your way through triggers before they escalate into full-blown anxiety. In addition to providing a sympathetic ear as you discuss the stresses and challenges you face, the licensed professionals at the Center for the Treatment of Anxiety can work with you to develop real-world tools and strategies to better cope with your excessive worry, social anxiety or other concerns.

Psychological Testing and Services

Because every individual is unique, in-depth psychological testing is generally required to determine the course of action that’s right for you. Whether you are coping with phobias, OCD, PTSD and other anxiety-related disorders, the experts at the Unison Health Center for the Treatment of Anxiety have tools that will help ensure you receive the appropriate treatment.

Psychiatry

For some people undergoing treatment for anxiety-related disorders, counseling and therapy may be all that’s needed to help relieve the symptoms. Many people, however, benefit greatly from medications, and finding the right pharmaceutical solution can be immensely rewarding. Please know there is no reason to feel guilty about using medication to get the help you need. The experts at the Center for the Treatment of Anxiety can help you find medications that will work for you, as well as provide sound medical advice to help you avoid potential problems as you begin a new regimen.
